New clothes, shoes, accessories are bought and worn on the special day. Not only that, Muslim families make special dishes, decorate their homes and streets and enjoy the day thanking Allah for it.

The day begins with special Eid Salah and after that all Muslims meet and greets each other; their relatives and friends. Special television programs, shows and functions are recorded for entertainment of the public. Women and girls get ready for the day like a bride in many cultures. This is to show happiness and joy. People make plans for this special day to make their day special. Hotels, restaurants, parks, cinemas and other places peep with masses on that day. Salat-al Eid

Gift exchange

Eid is a day of celebration. And so, many people celebrate it by exchanging gifts. Girls and women often exchange jewelry and cosmetics, men, on the other hand are present dresses to each other. Flowers, bouquets, sweets, cakes are also exchanged on Eid day. It is a great tradition that basically aims to spread love and brotherhood in the society. Children are specially given special sweets and candies and sometimes Eidi (Eid money) as a present.

Helping the poor on eid ul fitr 2017

Ramadan and Eid reminds of remembering the poor and helping them. Muslims share food, money, clothes with the needy on Eid day. They embrace their brothers on Eid in order to please Allah SWT. Women cook special dishes at home and divide it among the deprived , needy, neighbors and relatives.

Zakat ul Fitr

Zakat al Fitr is also an obligation to celebrate the Eid day. It is given to the disadvantaged and poor immediately after sighting the crescent. In many countries, crescent is sighted with great excitement. People from all walks of life gather around a high place such as a huge rooftop to sight the moon of Eid. Celebrations of Eid start right after that. Shopping malls, parlors, salons fill up on the last Ramadan night.

Varying days of Eid

Despite the date of Eid that is same everywhere, i.e. 1st of Shawwal, lunar month of the Muslims. Eid days differ slightly all over the world. It is because Eid depends on the sighting of moon. So, countries celebrate is according to their local at least testimonies of crescent sighting by people. Moreover, unlike secular world, Eid falls on different days each year. Eid ul Fitr 2017 in United States of America will begin in the evening of Sunday, June 25 and ends in the evening of Wednesday, June 28.
